Prof.Dr. Haldun GÜNER

Born in 1949, Sandıklı, Afyon.

Graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1974.

In 1979, became a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at the same faculty.

Between 1979 and 1980, he completed his military service at Ağrı 12th Division Military Hospital. From 1980 to 1986, he worked as a specialist physician in Denizli.

In 1986, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine.

In 1988-1989, he worked in Rome, Italy, at the Faculty of Medicine, focusing on “Gynecologic Oncology” and “Urogynecology.”

He became an Associate Professor in 1989 and a Professor in 1996.

Since 1999, he has been the president of the “Reproductive Health and Family Planning Congresses,” held every two years, a role he passed on to Prof. Dr. Berna Dilbaz upon his retirement in 2016.

In 2000, he founded the “Contraception and Reproductive Health Association” and continues to serve as a board member.

Since 1997, he has been the editor of the “Turkish Clinics Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics.” The journal has since become an international scientific publication, now titled Journal of Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, published in English.

Between 2001 and 2020, he wrote columns for Medimagazin Newspaper.

Since 2020, he has been writing columns for the website www.akademikakil.

• Vice-Dean and Dean Assistant

Ministry of Health:

He served as a member of the “Obstetrics and Gynecology Drug Commission,” “Family Planning Commission,” and “Mother Mortality Review Commission.”

Currently:

He serves as the chairman of the “Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (TJOD) Central Disciplinary Board.” Since 2016, he has been serving in the “Retired Physicians Commission” of the Istanbul Medical Chamber, where he was elected president in 2024.

The “Retired Physicians Commission” of the Istanbul Medical Chamber organizes the “Hand in Hand with the Saplings” meetings, where they discuss ethics and medical deontology with medical students in various cities across Turkey.
